Embark on an unforgettable adventure with the Marangu Route Kilimanjaro Trek. This 8-day journey offers a mix of scenic beauty, comfortable hut accommodations, and a challenging trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. The Marangu Route, known for its scenic trails and ease of ascent, provides an exceptional trekking experience.
DAY 1. Transfer from Arusha to Marangu gate then start climbing through a thick rain forest to Mandara Hut (2750 m) which takes 3 — 4 hours for dinner and overnight.
DAY 2. After breakfast proceed climbing slowly following a path through the forest and then savannah bush to Horombo but (3720 m) which takes 5 — 6 hours for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3. This is a day for acclimatization (a rest day) to allow time to explore an interesting area and increase the chance of making it to the peak and return to horombo but for dinner and overnight.
DAY 4. A hard day climb to Kibo but (4703 m) which takes 5 – 6 hrs crossing the barren sub Alpine terrain saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Needed to relax on arrival as the next stage begins shortly after midnight.
DAY 5. Start early after midnight, follow the zigzag path stopping frequently to catch breath in this starlit air. This is the steepest and most demanding section of the climb, takes 5 – 6 hrs to Gillimans point (5681 m). See sunrise behind Mawenzi illuminating the plain. Then walk around the crater and up to the stnrifrUt-UHURU peak (5895 m) the roof of Africa which takes 1 hour. Thereafter descend to Horombo but for dinner and overnight.
DAY 6. This is a much easier day as you have the luxury walking downhill to Marangu gate for transfer to Arusha.
